Books - Networking
Title: TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1: The protocols
Author: W. Richard Stevens
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Pub Co
ISBN: 0201633469
Release Date: January, 1994

Excellent base TCP/IP reference book. Perhaps a bit dated as released in 1994 (E.g. Little coverage of DHCP), Focuses on TCP/IP systems (in particular UNIX) therefore not really a book on routing protocols (2 chapters). However very comprehensive in the areas it does cover (E.g. 8 chapters on TCP alone.)

Volumes 2 and 3 are also good but cover TCP/IP from a programmer's viewpoint.
Title: Routing TCP/IP
Author: Jeff Doyle
Publisher: Cisco Press
ISBN: 1578700418
Release Date: September, 1998

Covers routing protocols inside out (except for BGP), we particularly like the case study approach of handling the issues of specific routing protocols.
Title: OSPF anatomy of an Internet routing protocol
Author: John T. Moy
Publisher: Addison-Wesley Pub Co
ASIN: 0201634724
Release Date: January, 1998

Advanced level book by the guy who wrote the RFC. Not a book to learn OSPF from but a book that helps clarify reasons for the way OSPF works in particular circumstances. We didn't like the book too much at first but then we found one or two sentences that justified the cost of the book and it got better every time we read the book again.
Title: Internet routing architectures second edition
Authors: Sam Halabi , Danny McPherson , Bassam Halabi
Publisher: Cisco Press
ISBN: 157870233X
Release Date: January, 2000

The books cover doesn’t lie when saying it is the definitive BGP reference.
Title: Sendmail 3rd edition
Authors: Bryan Costales , Eric Allman
Publisher: O'Reilly & Associates
ISBN: 1565928393
Release Date: December, 2002

The bible for sendmail administrators.
Title: DNS and BIND
Authors: Paul Albitz , Cricket Liu
Publisher: O'Reilly & Associates
ISBN: 0596001584
Release Date: April, 2001

The bible for DNS administrators. UNIX bias (reflected in the using the name BIND in the title) but this isn't a bad thing.
Title: Ethernet the definitive reference
Author: Charles E. Spurgeon
Publisher: O'Reilly & Associates
ISBN: 1565926609
Release Date: March, 2000

Covers Ethernet in 20 chapters as opposed to just one chapter in some more general books.
Title: The switch book
Author: Rich Seifert
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0471345865
Release Date: 27 June, 2000

This guy knows his stuff and knows how to put it across.
Title: Cisco LAN switching
Authors: Kennedy Clark , Kevin Hamilton
Publisher: Cisco Press
ISBN: 1578700949
Release Date: September, 1999

Although based around Cisco switches it has excellent coverage of the world of switching. STP coverage is also excellent (although because of the date it doesn't cover RSTP.)
